Just prior to noon on Thursday, January 9th, 2020 an explosion rocked Parcels Trucking in Stettler...

Reports of an explosion at Parcels Trucking in Stettler, that was said to have shook buildings as far away as Stettler Agri-Centre came in just before noon on Thursday, January 9th, 2020. No less than three fire trucks could be seen on location as of 1:30 pm as firefighters battled the resulting blaze.

Smoke billowed out of the main structure during one of the coldest times this winter as emergency crews worked feverishly to contain the fire in temperatures with wind chill levels as low as -27°C forecast. The explosion is said to have occurred while someone was working on a vehicle that combusted.

The east doors appeared to be damaged while the northeast wall of the structure was seen to be leaning at an incredible outward angle from the concussive blast of the explosion.

RCMP and EMTs could be seen on hand as well and one person is reported to have been transported to Edmonton via STARS Air Ambulance "in serious but stable condition". No other buildings were damaged by the blast although some people were evacuated as a safety precaution from nearby businesses.

Fire crews remained on scene until 9:30 pm as they put out hotspots and dismantled what remained of the structure to ensure the site was safe to vacate.
