A Snowman For Gramma

You are never too old to build a snowman for someone...

Recently the snow got pretty sticky and it was the perfect consistency to make a snowman.

I thought it might be fun to make a big one outside of the window and looking into my Gramma's house.

It didn't take long to get some pretty substantial snowballs rolled up and into place.

Either I'm not getting younger or snow is quite a bit heavier than I remember it being.

I bet they had quite the laugh from inside the house as a scrambled to get the second ball on top of the first.

The third one that would serve as the snowman's head wasn't nearly so bad.

At least I sure hoped they were watching from within, or had at least noticed what I was doing.

Could you imagine, waking up from a nap or something and not knowing there was a snowman looking in your window?

I'm laughing out loud right now just thinking about it.

After more thought, maybe it isn't that funny though, really.

I mean, no one wants to be the one who gave their Gramma her last startle after all.

I decided to make it a two-faced snowman.

The one looking in received some rocks for the eyes and mouth, complete with a stick moustache.

The outward facing snowman looked like it was a bit grouchy. I gave him spruce tree eyebrows and a stick nose, which made him appear rather angry.

I guess that made sense though seeing as it was a two-faced snowman. It should have two different and distinct personalities likely.

I gave the snowman some sticks for arms at that point and figured I was pretty much done.

I had just finished and my dog came around the corner and freaked out, literally barking and lunging at the snowman. I thought she was going to destroy it.

It was absolutely ridiculous...

She watched me build it the entire time for crying out loud.

You can probably laugh about that.

I am.

The dog eventually calmed down and we were able to head inside to see what Gramma thought of our handiwork.

Gramma liked it at least, although I didn't doubt that she would. Who wouldn't like having a snowman built for them?

Over the coming week she watched the snowman "lose weight".

It had probably been quite a while since anyone had built a snowman around her house.

Plus, she hasn't been really mobile until recently, after having underwent knee surgery not that long ago.

Which got me to thinking about how we may never be too old to build someone a snowman.

Perhaps you have children and maybe they build snowmen around your house all the time. Many times I bet you even help them, but, what happens when they get older?

Once the children are gone, so too are the snowmen.

So next time the weather is warm and the snow is nice and sticky, head over to your grandparent's, your parent's, your neighbour's, the old folks home, heck, go to the little old lady's down the road...

Go build someone a snowman.

You never know how much they might appreciate it.

Just try to make them look friendly if they are looking inside...

This one looks like he's trying to chase me away.
